Practice special manoeuvres
Besides driving on public roads, the examiner also tests the special manoeuvres: a set of manoeuvres you can practise at a calm manoeuvring area until they become automatic.
Which manoeuvres are covered?
The examiner usually asks for one or more of the manoeuvres below on exam day. The more often you repeat them, the more automatic the movements become, and the less stress you’ll feel when actually asked to perform them.
Reverse parking
Parking backwards at a right angle between two cars or markers.
Reversing around a corner
Reversing into a side street or bend while keeping control of the steering.
Changing lanes
Changing lanes safely and in good time, with sufficient mirror checks.
Pulling over and moving off safely
Stopping safely at the roadside and moving off again with the right checks.
Where do you practise this?
